A song for our time…

 

Originally composed for a contemporary/classical crossover project involving the Gustav Holst’s Planet Suite in 2014, (Video Below) “Back to Mars” has since gained significant substance.

Pre Branson, Bezos & Musk Mars-Mania and Fridays For Future, the song reflects the sombre mood felt during Putin’s Crimea Invasion, offering hope only by evacuating Planet Earth and going “Back To Mars”, a planet we have previously inhabited and destroyed in the process. Masked as a failed romance, the story unfolds to describe the sins we have enjoyed against the planet itself, both environmentally and humanistically, fully ignoring the consequences.
